Game of Thrones ficou na frente com 23 indicações ao Emmy 2016 depois de uma temporada com momentos fantásticos. Mas Mr. Robot, House of Cards, Better Call Saul e Homeland também se destacaram como era o esperado. Assim como o esperado também, o Emmy ignorou as últimas temporadas de Hannibal e Penny Dreadful.
Na área de comédia Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt e Ellie Kemper finalmente ganharam um merecido destaque, assim como as ótimas séries e que estão sempre concorrendo, Veep e Transparent. Como minissérie mais uma vez Fargo deve abocanhar todos os prêmios com uma segunda temporada tão genial quanto a primeira.
A 68ª cerimônia do Emmy Awards acontece no dia 18 de setembro e será apresentada por Jimmy Kimmel.
